Once you have created your 50 × 70 mm Canadian passport photo with Kindro, you need to print it on photo-quality paper. This guide covers every major print option across Canada — from Shoppers Drug Mart to printing at home.
What You Need
- Your 4-up print layout from Kindro (four 50 × 70 mm photos on one 4×6 inch sheet)
- A USB drive, phone, or email access to transfer the file
- Scissors or a paper cutter for trimming
Tip: Always print on glossy photo paper — IRCC requires photo-quality prints. Matte paper and regular printer paper will be rejected.
Option 1: Shoppers Drug Mart
Shoppers Drug Mart is the most common option across Canada, with photo kiosks in most locations.
- Cost: ~$0.30 per 4×6 print
- Transfer your file via USB, phone connection, or the Shoppers Photo app
- Select 4×6 inch glossy — do not select "passport photo" (that is their $16.99 service)
- Prints ready in minutes at the kiosk or same-day for counter orders
Option 2: Staples
Staples print centres accept digital files for photo printing.
- Cost: ~$0.40–$0.50 per 4×6 print
- Bring a USB drive or email the file to the print centre
- Ask for glossy photo paper, 4×6 inch
- Same-day pickup at most locations
Option 3: London Drugs
Available in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. London Drugs photo counters handle digital file printing.
- Cost: ~$0.30–$0.40 per 4×6 print
- Upload online at londondrugs.com or bring a USB to the store
- Select 4×6 glossy print
- Same-day or next-day pickup
Option 4: Costco Photo Centre
Costco offers some of the lowest photo print prices in Canada (membership required).
- Cost: ~$0.15–$0.20 per 4×6 print
- Upload through costcophotocentre.ca or use the in-store kiosk
- Select 4×6 glossy
- Pickup typically next business day
Option 5: Walmart Canada
Walmart Photo Centre has self-serve kiosks in most Canadian locations.
- Cost: ~$0.25–$0.35 per 4×6 print
- Use the in-store kiosk or upload online at walmartphotocentre.ca
- Select 4×6 glossy print
- Prints ready same day
Option 6: Home Printer
You can print at home if you have a photo-capable inkjet printer and glossy photo paper.
- Use 4×6 inch glossy photo paper (Canon, Epson, or HP brand recommended)
- Set printer to highest quality / photo mode
- Print at 100% scale — do not "fit to page" (this changes dimensions)
- Disable auto-enhancement or colour correction in printer settings
- Let the print dry fully before cutting
Caution: Home printers can produce visible inkjet lines or dots. IRCC may reject photos with poor print quality. If unsure about your printer's output, spending $0.30 at a pharmacy is safer.
Cutting Your Photos
Kindro's 4-up layout includes cut guides. Each photo is exactly 50 × 70 mm when cut correctly.
- Use a paper cutter or sharp scissors for clean, straight edges
- Cut along the guides — do not cut into the photo area
- Rough or jagged edges may cause rejection
- You will have four photos — you need two for the passport application
Guarantor Signature
After printing and cutting your photos, one photo must be signed on the back by your guarantor — someone who has known you for at least two years and holds a valid Canadian passport.
Your guarantor must write on the back of one photo:
"I certify this to be a true likeness of [your full name]"
Followed by their own printed name and signature. The second photo is submitted unsigned.
