How to Print Australian Passport Photos — Australia Post & Officeworks

Last updated March 22, 2026

Once you have created your 35 x 45 mm Australian passport photo with Kindro, you need to print it on photo-quality paper. This guide covers every major print option across Australia — from Australia Post to printing at home.

What You Need

  • Your print layout from Kindro (multiple 35 x 45 mm photos on one 4x6 inch sheet)
  • A USB drive, phone, or email access to transfer the file
  • Scissors or a paper cutter for trimming

Tip: Always print on glossy photo paper — DFAT requires photo-quality prints. Matte paper and regular printer paper will be rejected.

Option 1: Australia Post

Australia Post is the most common option, with passport photo services at most post offices across Australia.

  • Cost for DIY print: ~$0.20-$0.30 per 4x6 print (if printing your own file)
  • Their full passport photo service costs $19.95 for 2 photos
  • Ask the counter staff to print your file as a 4x6 inch glossy — do not select their passport photo service
  • Not all locations offer general photo printing — call ahead to confirm

Option 2: Officeworks

Officeworks has self-service photo kiosks in most Australian locations — one of the easiest and most affordable options.

  • Cost: ~$0.15-$0.25 per 4x6 print
  • Use the in-store self-service kiosk or upload online at officeworks.com.au
  • Select 4x6 inch glossy
  • Prints ready in minutes at the kiosk or same-day for online orders

Option 3: Harvey Norman Photo Centre

Harvey Norman Photo Centres offer counter-service photo printing at many locations across Australia.

  • Cost: ~$0.20-$0.30 per 4x6 print
  • Bring a USB drive or email the file to the print counter
  • Ask for glossy photo paper, 4x6 inch
  • Same-day or next-day pickup at most locations

Option 4: Big W Photo

Big W has photo kiosks in most stores with competitive printing prices.

  • Cost: ~$0.12-$0.20 per 4x6 print
  • Use the in-store kiosk or upload online at photos.bigw.com.au
  • Select 4x6 glossy print
  • One of the cheapest options available

Option 5: Home Printer

You can print at home if you have a photo-capable inkjet printer and glossy photo paper.

  • Use 4x6 inch glossy photo paper (Canon, Epson, or HP brand recommended)
  • Set printer to highest quality / photo mode
  • Print at 100% scale — do not "fit to page" (this changes dimensions)
  • Disable auto-enhancement or colour correction in printer settings
  • Let the print dry fully before cutting

Caution: Home printers can produce visible inkjet lines or dots. DFAT may reject photos with poor print quality. If unsure about your printer's output, spending $0.20 at Officeworks is safer.

Cutting Your Photos

Kindro's print layout includes cut guides. Each photo is exactly 35 x 45 mm when cut correctly.

  • Use a paper cutter or sharp scissors for clean, straight edges
  • Cut along the guides — do not cut into the photo area
  • Rough or jagged edges may cause rejection
  • You need two photos for the passport application

Guarantor Endorsement

After printing and cutting your photos, one photo must be endorsed on the back by your guarantor — an Australian citizen who has known you for at least 12 months.

Your guarantor must write on the back of one photo:

"I certify that this is a true photo of [your full name]"

Followed by their own printed name and signature. The second photo is submitted without endorsement.
